As you know,  our next coach holiday will be from Sunday 20th April to Saturday 26th April 2025, when we will visit Porthcawl in South Wales, where the Club had a successful holiday in 2016. We will stay in the Seabank Hotel for six nights. Dating from 1854, this seafront hotel is 2 minutes’ walk from the Grand Pavilion. Porthcawl is a tradition seaside town with a range of independent shops, cafés and pubs. Nearby attractions include:

  • Beaches at Rest Bay and Trecco Bay
  • The Coney Beach Amusement Park
  • The Royal Porthcawl Golf Club.
  • Porthcawl Marina
  • Wales’ oldest listed bonded warehouse, the Jennings Building, which now houses cafés and restaurants.

We plan to have three days where our coach will take both walkers and non-walkers  to different destinations in the area. Final plans will be available soon, but may include the following:

Swansea, Mumbles and Bracelet Bay

Our first walk will be be from Swansea along beautiful Bracelet Bay beach to Mumbles head. Its rocky shoreline is award winning, it has a great view of the lighthouse and it’s the perfect spot for an ice cream. Noen walkers will find  plenty so see and do in Swansea (see here for some ideas). In Swansea’s lovely indoor market, a hot off the griddle Welsh cake is particularly recommended.  Joe’s  ice cream (also available in Mumbles) is definitely recommended.

Mumbles Pier

The coach will bring none walkers  to  Mumbles, which is a short distance across Swansea Bay.  Mumbles is famous for its castle, pier, and many shops, cafes and pubs. Mumbles marks the start of the Gower Peninsula, the UK’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Our walks will include the lovely Bracelet Bay.
